Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about FLO2 solutions and indoor air quality.

Air conditioning cools and recirculates the air already inside your building. Most AC systems in Indian commercial buildings do not introduce meaningful quantities of fresh outdoor air unless a dedicated fresh air unit is installed. The result is that CO2 and other occupant-generated contaminants accumulate steadily over the course of a working day. We regularly record CO2 levels of 1,500 to 3,500 ppm in fully air-conditioned offices by mid-morning. Research from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health shows measurable cognitive decline beginning at 1,000 ppm. Cool air and clean air are not the same thing.

ASHRAE Standard 62.1, the international benchmark for ventilation adequacy, targets indoor CO2 at no more than 700 ppm above outdoor ambient levels, which in Indian urban conditions translates to approximately 1,000 to 1,100 ppm during occupied periods. Below 800 ppm is considered excellent. Above 1,000 ppm, occupant performance begins to be affected. Above 1,500 ppm, the impact on higher-order cognitive function is significant and well-documented. If you do not have monitoring in place, you likely do not know where your building sits on this range.

A standard fresh air unit runs on a fixed schedule at a fixed rate regardless of how many people are in the building. It ventilates an empty boardroom at the same rate as a full one. FLO2 supplies fresh air based on actual occupancy need rather than a fixed timer. Air quality is maintained within a healthy range during peak occupancy, while energy is not wasted during low-occupancy periods. The system operates automatically and logs all data to a cloud dashboard accessible from any device.

FLO2 works with the full range of HVAC systems found in Indian commercial buildings, including split AC, ducted split, central HVAC, and central HVAC with BMS. The integration approach is determined during a site assessment, which we conduct before proposing any solution. Buildings with an existing BMS and those without are both supported.

No. FLO2 is designed specifically to minimise disruption in occupied commercial buildings. There is no requirement to modify existing ductwork, alter the AC system, or carry out any structural work. Most installations across our 300+ sites have been completed without disrupting normal business operations.

Yes. FLO2 is a CII GreenPro certified product and contributes credits under major green building rating systems including IGBC, LEED, and WELL. The cloud dashboard generates exportable historical data with timestamps, which can serve as documentation evidence for certification audits. If you are pursuing or maintaining a green building rating, we can advise on how FLO2 fits into your specific certification requirements.

Field observations across our installed base show fresh air handling energy savings of up to 25% compared to fixed-schedule ventilation systems. ASHRAE-modelled analysis across building typologies indicates a 40% reduction in annual ventilation energy consumption with demand-controlled ventilation. The savings are higher in humid coastal cities like Chennai and Mumbai, where the energy cost of conditioning outdoor air is amplified by local climatic conditions.

Across modelled building categories, payback periods range from approximately 1 to 1.4 years on energy savings alone. This does not account for the productivity and occupant wellbeing benefits of improved air quality, which in knowledge-intensive workplaces represent a substantially larger financial case than energy savings. At Indian commercial electricity tariffs, the energy savings from a properly commissioned FLO2 installation are sufficient to recover the investment well within two years in most building typologies.

FLO2 is designed for low maintenance. Routine upkeep can be performed by a trained facilities team, and we provide full guidance on schedules and procedures. We also offer an Annual Maintenance Contract that covers scheduled service visits, calibration, and system health checks. Parts replacement due to normal wear and tear is included under the AMC. Emergency service requests outside scheduled visits are available at prevailing rates.

We conduct a brief site assessment before proposing any solution. This allows us to confirm compatibility with your existing HVAC system, identify the appropriate configuration, and size the system accurately for your space. You can reach us at info@flo2.live or +91 63791 81440. We are operational across India.
